Harlem Globetrotters' 2010 World Tour a Slam Dunk for Stockton - Arena Nets Highest Its Gross Revenue Since Hosting the Event

For Immediate Release:

STOCKTON – Calif. – The “world's most famous team,” the Harlem Globetrotters, generated record-breaking revenue for the Stockton Arena during their 2010 World Tour on Thursday, January 14, resulting in a 9.3 percent increase in ticket sales revenue in comparison to when the Arena first hosted the Globetrotters in 2006. Nearly 4,000 fans attended the wholesome family event, known for thrilling crowds of all ages. The Arena will be awarded the Globetrotter's traditional red, white and blue “Money Ball” for first-time records.

“The entertainment industry has been hit by tough economic times like all other industries. For us to hit record-breaking revenue in this economy, is a very positive sign,” said Chuck Kemp, Stockton Arena general manager. “We look forward to hosting the Globetrotters again next year and continuing to provide events that are popular and supported by our community.”

“We are thrilled with the event we held in Stockton, with families continuing to make ‘Magical Memories' at our events,” stated Michael Kenney, the Globetrotters' senior vice president, live event marketing.  “The feedback from fans was very positive, as parents and children added our show to their family traditions.”

On January 14, fans were treated to some of the most extraordinary athletes and entertainers on the planet, including Big Easy Lofton and Flight Time Lang, who starred in the Emmy Award-winning CBS reality hit, “The Amazing Race.” Advance
Ambassador Buckets Blakes came to Stockton on January 6 to “warm up” crowds for the excitement to come. Buckets presented Stockton Mayor Johnston with a Globetrotters jersey and inspired Martin Luther King Elementary students with his C.H.E.E.R.
presentation. The interactive program focuses on Cooperation, Healthy mind and body, Effort, Enthusiasm and Responsibility. Buckets also signed autographs for Special Olympics basketball teams at the Stribley Community Center. Ticket prices for the event started at $21.

The Globetrotters will perform nearly 270 shows in over 200 cities in 44 states, the District of Columbia, five Canadian provinces and Puerto Rico through the first week of May 2010.
